Bicarbonate of Soda In-wash stain additive by Living Naturally. Vegan, biodegradable and septic tank safe.
Bicarbonate of Soda is a traditional cleaning product, renowned for its deodorising and 'gentle cleaning' properties. Bicarbonate of Soda is often mistakenly referred to as Baking Soda; although they are very similar, it hasn't got the raising agents required for baking!
Bicarbonate of Soda is extremely versatile and has a number of useful properties, and can be used for the following household tasks:
- It can be used as a mild abrasive or scouring agent on shiny materials, as it cleans without scratching. It is suitable for use on aluminium, chrome, jewellery, plastic, porcelain, silver, stainless steel and tin.
- Bicarbonate of Soda is an excellent deodoriser for the refrigerator, carpets, upholstery, vinyl, bins, drains.
- It is a mild alkali so is effective for neutralising bee stings (Note- Wasp stings are alkaline and therefore should be treated with white vinegar and NOT Bicarbonate of Soda)
How to use
In your laundry - Add 1/2 cup of bicarbonate soda in the powder drawer/drum along with your detergent to help lift stains and brighten clothes.
For really stubborn stains - Soak clothes and textiles overnight in a bicarbonate of soda/cold water solution before washing normally.
Create your own oxygenated cleaner by adding 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the bicarbonate of soda with your wash. This also makes the clothes lovely and soft!
